A basic rectangle is cut and folded to make one of the most versatile and flattering garments you will ever make. Basing the rectangle on your body measurements, this reversible coat is ideal for endless embellishment possibilities. Even if you've never made a garment before, you'll find this coat easy to do. Construct a basic garment with contrasting bands at sleeves and neck.
Proficiency: All levels. Student must be comfortable with her sewing machine. Several samples will show possibilities for future garments. Class size is limited to 16 for this workshop.

One of the hardest parts of making a quilt can be choosing the fabrics. This half-day class will open new doors. Students will construct a fabric selection guide book, as well as test their new knowledge in hands-on exercises that will give them confidence.
Proficiency: All levels. Covers ideas on how to make exciting fabric combinations. Works best in a shop situation so students may put their new-found knowledge to work in the hands-on exercises.

The Perfect follow-up to What Judges Look For "What Judges Look For" Your quilt deserves the very best. Learn what a difference proper completion of your quilt can make. This class is a combination of demonstrations and hands-on stitching of class samples that will teach you how to make a quilt that does not ripple on the edges, a revolutionary technique for making continuous bias binding, how to miter the corners of your binding on both the front and the back of the quilt, and how to blend the beginning and end of your binding without lumps. Learn what judges look for when they examine your quilt's finishing techniques.

Ink elegant signatures on your quilts even if you have lousy handwriting. With provided scripts, learn inking on cloth with the Pigma pen (permanent, acid-free pen ideal for writing on fabric). A variety of scrolls and embellishments will also be covered. Label your quilts with elegance.

If you want something really different that has nothing to do with quilting, but is lots of fun, this origami class is for you. Through the art of folding, we will make wonderful treasures out of paper. They make endearing gifts and are such fun to do, and the best part is that you finish them on the spot... no 'unfinished projects' in this class! Make fitted boxes, folding star books, and translucent stars.

The one hour demonstration presentation of Quick Gifts (see Slide-Lecture Presentations) comes to life as students stitch along. In today's busy world, it is nice to leave a class with things that are completed, and this class will give you that. Whether using batiks or specialty prints, you will be able to whip up gifts for year-round giving. Five items taught (selection varies)

Build a guidebook you will go back to again and again. This class combines the concepts ofFabric Selection Made Easy with Design Games. One of the hardest parts of making a quilt can be choosing the fabrics. Students will learn to identify the types of fabrics in their collection, see what areas they are lacking in, and learn combination hints that will make Fabric Selection easy. Follow that with design games. Traditional patterns take on a whole new look when you play games with patterns. Tricks for putting colors together and design techniques geared to the non-artist make quilting fun.
